Five Labour Party members went to the hospital on Thursday evening to thank staff for their hard work and dedication to caring for patients, but were told they could not see them because they were busy working.
Invited back the following day, Richard Hellen returned to present the card, signed by hundreds of residents from the area to grateful NHS workers.
Tim Lezard, chair of Cam, Dursley and Berkeley Labour Party, said: “We owe a huge debt of gratitude to those people who work tirelessly for our NHS – a fact that is reflected by the love and warmth on the messages we collected.
“We stand with the doctors and nurses who want to care for their patients to the best of their ability.
“We stand with all the NHS workers who give everything they can to go above and beyond, yet are met with crippling cuts to their budgets because of cruel Conservative choices.”
