Local Labour Party members were pleased to be invited to a concert at Rednock organised by youngsters taking part in the National Citizen Service.
The teenagers, who had spent four weeks on the project, organised the event themselves, collecting raffle prizes from many of the town’s shops. Over the course of the month they raised £450 for GL11 Community Hub. On the night, they entertained the audience – including town mayor Neil Grecian – by performing songs and dancing.
Party members handed out leaflets and voter registration forms, as well as collecting signatures from parents for the Save the 62 bus petition. Link to the 62 bus petition story
Branch chair Tim Lezard said: “It was a real pleasure for us to be included in this event and to see such talented young people on stage. They’ve worked really hard and engaged with so many people – they are the community champions of the future!”
